Author Susan Shelley stunned the political world last year by coming within 329 votes of victory in a special election in Assembly District 45 in the west San Fernando Valley, where registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans 48% to 25%. Outspent by a margin of 10-1, Susan nonetheless reached the voters with her message of protecting Proposition 13, fighting for affordable energy and water, and working to restore economic growth and job creation to California. Now running for the same seat in 2014, Susan has the endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, the Republican parties of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, the Los Angeles County Lincoln Clubs, and a long list of community and business leaders. Susan is the author of three books on the U.S. Constitution, including a history of the Bill of Rights and a futuristic legal thriller about due process of law. Her books are on the shelves of university and law libraries around the country and have been used in high school and college classes on government. She also has written op-ed articles for newspapers which have been published in the Los Angeles Daily News and other papers around the country. Susan graduated magna cum laude from California State University Northridge with a degree in history and began her career in the television industry with Merv Griffin Enterprises, where she was the Associate Producer of the television show, "Jeopardy!" before going on to be a full-time writer.
